When ServerLife is the right choice
- You use more than one device (or switch phones often and don't want to think about backups). ServerLife's cloud sync is automatic; TipJar's answer is a CSV file you export and keep.
- You're on Android. TipJar is iPhone-only.
- You want forecasting — ServerLife projects your income forward from history. Very few trackers do this.
- You want a decade-proven app with 9,000+ ratings and famously responsive human support.
When TipJar is the right choice
- You never want your tip history behind a login. A recurring complaint in ServerLife reviews over the years is data loss around account issues — years of shifts gone after a login problem. TipJar can't have that failure mode: there is no account and no server. (The trade-off is stated above: no sync.)
- You log at 1 AM in a parking lot. TipJar's whole design goal is a sub-10-second log: cash, card, tip-out, hours, done. It also works fully offline.
- You hate ads in a money app. TipJar has none on any tier.
